Travelling is by far a grand experience and is one we all cherish; a time to escape reality, a time to learn and connect with different people from all over the world. Here at SuperSisters, we wanted to bring you our top 5 travelling tips from our own experiences. Enjoy!
1. Always do your research before travelling
Seems simple, but it’s a reminder we all need sometimes. Research is key for travelling – you need to understand the country before you take flight. It’s important to understand even the most basic things about the country. For example, if you are going to a more conservative country, make the effort to understand why or how you should behave and if you like, you can even document your experience of it (but keep it respectful), to help others.
2. Carry those extra essentials
Whether that’s bug spray or extra underwear, make sure you are prepared for the worst-case scenario. It’s never a fun time when you are on your time-of-the-month during a holiday, so play it safe and carry your daily essentials.
3. Do not pack last minute
With a couple of last-minute packers on the SuperSisters team, we should probably take our own advice first! But trust us when we say don’t leave your packing to the last minute! This can be extremely stressful and you’ll probably be running around like a headless chicken, asking your mum where your hijab pins were last seen. Give yourself extra time, so you can purchase whatever you need before your trip away from home, be organised and be ready way ahead of schedule. Less stress and more time time to look forward to your travels ahead!
4. Be respectful
This is the key to travelling in another country. Being respectful is a huge part of making your experience an enjoyable one and for the local’s of the country you’re visiting. Make yourself aware of the country, its people and the culture. Allow yourself to learn, rather than just visiting a place, respect its laws and be cautious. We believe getting the best out of a holiday experience, is making those small extra efforts. Learning how to say ‘thank you’ or ‘hello’ in the country’s language, or simply embedding yourself in every step that you take and indulging in the glorious food. Take little steps, make small changes that will give you a better experience on your journey.
5. Enjoy your travels!
Getting away probably is never easy for you. You may have taken time to save money or to convince your parents to finally let you go and just escape into a different place for a while. Allow yourself to enjoy these moments, whether it’s in your own company or with a group of awesome friends, you deserve to take a break and have some fun.
We know everyone craves a bit of travel in their lives, so enjoy every moment and be yourself!
Happy travels, SuperSisters!💕
