We still don’t think we’re quite over Nadiya Hussain winning Bake Off in 2015. It was unbelievably emosh and her words will probably stay with us forever:
“I’m never gonna put boundaries on myself ever again. I’m never gonna say I can’t do it. I’m never gonna say ‘maybe’. I’m never gonna say, ‘I don’t think I can.’ I can and I will.”
No, YOU’RE crying.
Since Bake Off, Nadiya has appeared in numerous TV shows, released two cookbooks and even written a novel. Along the way, she’s always been incredibly open about her past, honest about her struggles, and proud of her faith. Now, a new series is set to show just how beautiful and vital a part of her life Islam is.
Due to air later this year, the show will follow Nadiya as she embarks on the Hajj, the annual pilgrimage to Mecca. In a statement announcing the series, Nadiya said: ‘The Hajj is one of the most intense and emotional experiences you can undertake and I’m delighted to be sharing my journey with BBC One viewers. I’m really looking forward to showing first-hand exactly what it is like to be there and meeting some of the other pilgrims and hearing their stories as well as finding out more about the cultural and historical significance of this incredible event.’
Nadiya previously completed Hajj in 2013. Now, with cameras in tow, she aims to reveal her own spiritual journey, while talking to some of the millions of Muslims also making the pilgrimage to the holy city of Mecca. After Hajj, she will go on to Medina to visit Prophet Muhammad’s (pbuh) Mosque as well as his tomb. We’re sure the two-part series will reveal some incredible stories of faith, and we cannot wait to watch.
So far the show has the working title The Hajj. Keep your eyes on TV listings, as its air date is yet to be announced.
